Use your leftover sourdough starter to make delicious crackers!
Looking for a tasty, waste-free way to use up your leftover sourdough starter? These sourdough crackers are perfect: crunchy, flavourful and full of character, they bring out the authentic flavours of natural sourdough while offering you a healthy alternative for your aperitif.
Easy to prepare, they can be customised in endless ways to suit your tastes: seeds, spices, herbs or chilli peppers—it’s up to you to create your ideal version. Enjoy them as an aperitif, with a good cheese or homemade spread—a zero-waste recipe that combines pleasure and taste. These crackers are a great way to make use of your discarded sourdough starter while treating yourself.
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 180°C
- Mix the sourdough starter and oil
- Add the seeds (except the pumpkin seeds), salt and pepper
- Line a flat baking tray with baking paper
- Put the cracker mixture onto the tray and smooth it out with a spatula to an even thickness
- Sprinkle with chilli and pumpkin seeds
Baking:
- Place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove the tray from the oven and cut into rectangles using a knife or pizza cutter.
- Return to the oven for another 25 minutes. The crackers should be golden brown
- Once cooked, transfer to a wire rack to cool.
